HUGE (3rd floor) (map)
Django NYC is kicking off the new year with an awesome January meeting. First up, we will be having a talk from Mike Dirolf of 10gen about using MongoDB, a NOSQL, document oriented database, with Django. Then, if that's not enough for you, we'll also be hosting a talk from Jacob Kaplan-Moss. Jacob is a Django BDFL/core dev and will be giving us an overview of what to expect in the upcoming 1.2 release of Django. Additionally we'll make some extra Q&A time available so that Jacob can answer some questions beyond the scope of his talk. Since we expect that everybody will probably have lots of questions for Jacob, we've setup a google moderator page for the talk. Be sure to go to http://moderator.apps..., post your questions, and vote for any other questions you find interesting.
As usual, we'll have some time for a few short lightning talks between the main talks. Lightning talks are 5 minute talks on any topic. Time limits are strictly enforced and there is no Q&A. If you'd like to give a lightning talk, contact Justin or I, or come to the meeting ready to give your talk on a provided machine. Finally, after the meeting, everybody is welcome to join us for some food and drink at reBar(http://www.rebarnyc.c....
LOCATION NOTE: HUGE has finally expanded into our fancy new space on the third floor of 45 Main and are letting us use it. When you come to the meeting, you will want to go up one more floor than you usually do.
